WORKINGTON 42 TIGERS 47

Saturday May 29, 2010
SHEFFIELD Tigers pulled off their second successive away win with a 47-42 success at Workington on Saturday.

It was their fourth straight win and suddenly Tigers have seen their season transformed and they are one of the form teams in the league.

Former skipper Ricky Ashworth was at his brilliant best in Cumbria with a 16-point haul from his six outings – including four wins.

Sheffield once again operated the rider-replacement facility for the injured Josef Franc and they used it to good effect with a rock solid team display.

Youngster Josh Auty followed up his brilliant display at Redcar on Friday with a matchwinning display at Derwent Park.

He won Heat 12 to put Tigers five-points up and when he won Heat 14 they were three-points to the good going into a tense last heat decider.

Ashworth did the necessary in Heat 15 with a brilliant ride and Auty settled in third to see Tigers home for three precious points.

WORKINGTON: Rusty Harrison 9, Andre Compton 9, Peter Kildemand 8+1, Craig Cook 7+1, Chris Schramm 4+1, Richard Lawson 4+1, John Branney 1+1.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth 16, Josh Auty 13+1, Hugh Skidmore 7+2, Richard Hall 7, Paul Cooper 4, Arlo Bugeja 0, Josef Franc R/R.
