SHEFFIELD Speedway are proud to host the British Sidecar Speedway Final for the first time at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

And there's plenty of local interest with Tigers star Paul Cooper taking part in the showpiece event as a passenger to former champion Rob Bradley.

Sheffield promoter Neil Machin said: "The machines are highly tuned 1,000cc and you’ll hear them sing as the tapes rise.

"They are mostly Yamaha R1 engines, producing 200 brake horsepower and contact in the turns is commonplace as these gladiators battle for supremacy, with the passenger moving his body weight to gain maximum drive.

"Paul is a talented all-round motorcyclist who is relishing the prospect of the high-speed action. It will be a good night of entertainment."
