TIGERS V GLASGOW - THURSDAY, PREVIEW

Wednesday June 23, 2010
SHEFFIELD Tigers are looking to extend their Premier League winning streak to six matches when they face a new-look Glasgow side at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

And the meeting also sees the club supporting the Armed forces with free admission to all service personnel and their families on production of valid ID.

Team manager Eric Boocock has praised his riders who have bounced back from a poor opening to the season to set themselves up for a surge in the second half.

He said: “We’ve a big July ahead where if we get the points we want we’re set up nicely for a big fling at the end. All we have got to do is keep focused and keep going the way we are and we’ll be in there at the end with a big shout.”

Tigers are unchanged from the side which comfortably beat Workington Comets at Owlerton last Thursday - although Ricky Ashworth is struggling after a crash at Belle Vue on Monday.

But Glasgow have strengthened their team by signing former Grand Prix star Joe Screen to partner Australian ace Travis McGowan in a powerful spearhead.

And in Nick Morris at reserve they have a talented 16-year old Australian rider who has just made the big step up from National League racing to carve out a career in the Premier League with the Scottish side.

SHEFFIELD: Josef Franc, Hugh Skidmore, Ricky Ashworth, Richard Hall, Josh Auty, Paul Cooper, Arlo Bugeja.

GLASGOW: Joe Screen, Lee Dicken, Travis McGowan, John Branney, Josh Grajczonek, Nick Morris, Jamie Courtney.
