MONDAY PREVIEW: TIGERS v BELLE VUE

Sunday May 24, 2026
SHEFFIELD take on rivals Belle Vue home and away on a bumper Bank Holiday Monday (May 25) of speedway with five league points up for grabs.

The teams will meet in Manchester at 12 noon with the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership aggregate point then on the line at Owlerton with rider introductions getting underway at 7.30pm.

The two have already met this term in the Premiership Knockout Cup; the Tigers narrowly missed out 48-42 at the National Speedway Stadium before easing to a 56-34 victory in the Steel City.

Dan Bewley scored almost half of the Aces points on that occasion (16) - but the British Grand Prix star, sadly, suffered a broken femur in Denmark earlier this week.

The men from Manchester also remain without broken collarbone victim Peter Kildemand whilst Norick Blodorn is also missing due to the FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualifier in Germany.

Jaimon Lidsey will guest in Manchester with Niels-Kristian Iversen deputising for Bewley at Owlerton.

In-form Northampton reserve Kye Thomson steps in for both meetings in place of Blodorn whilst Aces boss Mark Lemon has also booked former Sheffield skipper Kyle Howarth meaning an earlier than anticipated top-flight head-to-head with current Tigers captain Josh Pickering following the pair’s on track bust-up which made the national headlines last month.

Sheffield are once again at full strength and will be hoping to build on their impressive 14 point win over league champions Ipswich last time out.

And team boss Simon Stead says his side are itching to get back out on track.

“That Ipswich meeting feels such a long time ago now but we’ve got a Bank Holiday double to look forward to and a big opportunity to increase our points tally,” Stead said.

“We say it every year but we know two meetings in one day can be demanding both rider and machine - but the lads are keen to build on that Ipswich meeting and add at least one more win to the board.

“It’s set to be a scorcher of a day, I know we’ll have a good band of travelling support in the afternoon, but let’s get Owlerton packed out as well and enjoy what should be a fantastic day of speedway.”
