SHEFFIELD have booked Australian star Ryan Douglas to guest at No.1 for their key trip to Northampton on Monday (July 20, 7.30pm).
Tigers bosses have worked overtime to secure the services of the popular regular Leicester racer, who is also the track record holder at the home of the Foxes, after their initial plan to use Richard Lawson was forced to change.
Northampton’s International Shaleway is the venue of Sheffield’s only success on the road so far in 2026 courtesy of a terrific late turnaround there last month.
Eight points down after 11 races, the Tigers then produced four straight heat advantages after the final track grading break to leave the hosts shellshocked.
Skipper Josh Pickering was absent for that fixture, due to Polish League commitments, but he’s looking forward to making his debut around British Speedway’s newest circuit on what he says is a big night for the team.
“We were so annoyed and very disappointed with coming away from Ipswich on Thursday with nothing - but that’s gone now,” Pickering said.
“For me, Northampton is a must win.
“I haven’t been there yet so it’s new territory for me - but I don’t mind that.
“But the boys had a good result there not so long back and we need something similar again on Monday.”
