THURSDAY PREVIEW: TIGERS v NORTHAMPTON

Wednesday September 09, 2026
SHEFFIELD can officially seal their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-off place when they host Northampton in their final regular home league fixture of the season on Thursday (September 10, 7.30pm).

The Tigers know a single league point would be enough to see them secure a place in the top-flight’s top four once again.

Sheffield are aiming to make it six home wins on the spin whilst their opponents are the only side in the Premiership not to taste victory on the road this term.

But team boss Simon Stead is keen to see his riders knuckle down and continue building on recent displays.

“After a real dogged home win over Belle Vue and a real battling performance at Ipswich, we're going into this one with a real flow I feel and some much needed momentum at just the right time,” he said.

"We won't take anything for granted, but we know one league point will seal our place in that top four for another year with one meeting to go before the play-offs and it would be great if we could go into those with some real big confidence behind us."

Tigers will operate Rider Replacement at No.1 for the injured Jack Holder whilst Northampton draft Nathan Ablitt in as a guest down at reserve.

The aggregate point is also up for grabs with the scores tied at 45 points a piece following a draw between the two at the Shaleway in July.

Tigers Ten Tickets are valid for the final time and holders must show their card at the hut outside Napoleons Casino to receive their parking free of charge before gaining admission via the VIP gate next to the main turnstiles.

Racenight+ tickets, which include admission, 1x Official Racenight Programme, Centre Green viewing of Heats 8-11, plus a signed photograph selected at random upon entry, will remain on sale until 12 noon on the day of the fixture via http://www.sheffield-speedway.com/ticketoffice.

Racenight+ admission can be gained via the VIP gate next to the main turnstiles.

Standard admission tickets can be purchased by cash or card at the turnstiles on racenight only which open from 6pm. Supporters are advised that Turnstile 1 is Card ONLY whilst Turnstiles 2 and 3 are both cash and card.

The 12th issue of our ‘Tiger Talk’ Racenight programme will also be available for £4 on entry to the stadium.

And ‘Tigers Jackpot’ tickets will again be on sale with the jackpot reset to a starting figure of £100 which will increase with every ticket purchased for just £1.

Supporters can also make enquiries on the night via the Speedway Office which will now be open between 6pm and 7.15pm.
