TIGERS HOST CLRC ON SATURDAY

Friday September 11, 2026
SHEFFIELD host the 2026 Championship League Riders’ Championship at Owlerton on Saturday (September 12, 7pm) - and home supporters will have three Tigers to cheer on as they represent their second tier clubs.

Josh Pickering (Scunthorpe) and Leon Flint (Glasgow) will be amongst the favourites to lift the trophy - and Tigers’ Rising Star Luke Killeen (Oxford) has now received a late call-up following Troy Batchelor’s decision to pull out of the event.

All nine Championship clubs are represented, with Glasgow’s Chris Harris defending the title he won at Scunthorpe last season.

Said Pickering: “With my average and the points I’ve scored everywhere this year, without a doubt I’m the out-and out favourite.

“I will take that with confidence; no cockiness, just backing my ability. All of us riders, we’ve all got doubt in some way and I know they’re going to have a lot of doubt racing against me.

“To be completely honest, it was at any another track in the league I would also feel confident in going there and doing the job also.”

Meanwhile, Flint said: “It’s always nice going into a meeting at a track you know well and I’ve done plenty of laps around Sheffield now.

“Hopefully I can use that experience to my advantage, but it’s still going to be a tough meeting and I’ll need to be on it from the start.

“It’s a really strong line up, so I’m just going there to enjoy it and give it everything.”

Regular Sheffield Speedway admission prices apply for this BSPL individual event; Adults £25, Concessions (over 65s and students) £23, Juniors (aged 12-17) £5, Kids (aged 11 and under) £1. Supporters are reminded that Tigers Ten Tickets and Complimentary Tickets are NOT valid for this event.

Turnstiles are set to open at 5.30pm and supporters are kindly asked to note that the Car Park will be controlled by Owlerton Stadium staff and they will conduct the traffic flow following Sheffield Wednesday’s home fixture at Hillsbrough.
