SHEFFIELD produced a strong finish at Owlerton to seize control of their Sports Insure Premiership Knockout Cup Semi-Final tie with Wolverhampton.

The Tru Plant Tigers built up an 18-point advantage from their home leg with an impressive 54-36 victory.

There were just six points separating the two sides at the interval though, but the hosts came out battling to fire in a hat-trick of 5-1s in the final four races.

Grand Prix star Jack Holder dropped just one point to an opponent when Wolves skipper Sam Masters roughed him up in the opening bends of Heat 11 while Tobiasz Musielak continued his stunning form in his first home fixture with the No.1 racejacket on his back.

Captain Kyle Howarth raced to double figures for a third meeting on the trot while middle order pairing Adam Ellis and David Bellego combined in Heat Three for an important early 5-1.

Lewis Kerr reeled off four straight third places while Rising Star Dan Gilkes recovered from two last places to finish with a solid second place in Heat Eight.

The deciding leg takes place in the West Midlands on Monday, June 19 - but first up it’s back to league action with a double against Ipswich.

The Tru Plant Tigers head to Suffolk on Monday (June 12, 7.30) before hosting the Witches, who are spearheaded by world stars Jason Doyle and Emil Sayfutdinov, on Thursday, June 15 (7.30).
